TPI Vaccuum Lines?

I've been wanting to replace vaccuum lines on my car for sometime now but i've noticed all the different sizes and materials . The EGR (I believe) has those small hard tubes with the rubber connectors and other lines have tee's and othe connections. My Question is does some company sell complete vaccuum hose kits like some sell gasket kits or do I have to go from parts store to parts store till I get everything I need?

I agree, i patched mine a couple of times those plastic lines get really brittle.I checked with the dealer, they called it the egr harness. Better yet i would rather eliminate what isnt needed. My 87 T/A is a one owner low mileage garaged orignal i would hate have to touch an older or more worn one.

hey guys my lines got brittle and broke too, so i took them of and removed and saved the rubber tees and elbows, went to the hardware store and bought small aluminum tubing. you can bend it by hand and it matched the rest of my TPI. worked great and will never get brittle

I spent two years looking for this same assembly. But you can rebuild the assembly for around $5. The plastic hose can be bought at Advanced Auto Parts, It is (5/32)emission hose I think. It should be on the tree with the pcv valves or in that general area. You may want to clip off a small piece before you go into the store to verify the size of this hose.

Jim,

Welcome aboard!

Good call. That plastic "hose" is actually plastic tubing, and is a thermosetting compound. As the plastic gets heated, it gets harder instead of softer (like theromplastic materials). If your local auto store doesn't have it, or you want it in a different color, you can also get it by the foot through many industrial suppliers. The rubber connectors and fittings are a little more difficult to find, but can be replaced if necessary. Usually the originals can be removed and reused by coating the ends of the tubing with gasket cement, or you can use short lengths of rubber hose and shrink tubing to make a clean and sealed installation.

i'm not sure what it is for, i use it for exhaust on my model cars and it worked great for my vaccum lines. it can be bent by hand easily. in our local ace hardware store it is next to the long pieces of threaded rod

Just convert all your plastic tubing to acrylic (clear) like the fishtank hose. It wont rot like rubber or get brittle like plastic (might yellow after years though)
