Is DFI worth the money on a N/A motor??
I'm just wondering if DFI would be worth the money if used on an N/A motor? It'd be on a 383, possibly with SR manifold, runners, and plenum, and a possible 100 hp shot on those "special occasions." Thanks.

DFI is very much worth it I run a 383 with the Lingenfelter set up and I was running a modified chip untill about a week ago and my car is alot smoother idling now. But I can change it so sucks down fuel and bump the timing for the track. Besides the cost I dont understang why you wouldn't go DFI, its great.

a383z, tell me more about your dfi experiences. From your mods it sounds like you have the exact same combo I'm building except I'm going to run iron eagle heads. I was going to sell my accel/fasttrack dfi setup & burn proms, but since nobody seems to want my dfi I guess I'm going to just use it.
I really did want to keep my maf though... *sigh*

Well my setup is an Accell intake w/30lb injectors, I put the regular setup on top of my 383 first and then put the SuperRam on later. With the GM computer it always took some time for the computer to find an idle at start up and when I decelerated to a stop but as soon as the DFI went in it idles great just like stock kind of just alot louder. I run Lingenfelter headers (bought them before they were discontinued)and a Dynomax muffler. Any questions I can answer just ask.

I love my DFI. The DFI is more straight forward than burning PROMs. I only wish I had learned PROM burning so I understood what they talk about on the PROM board.

a383Z what are you running, or what type or power are you making, or both? What kind of internals are you using, all cast, all forged, a combination? Thanks.

I've never used DFI but I'll tell you that prom burning ain't rocket science, especially for a SD system. Go to the prom board and read a little, Traxions tech article in particular, I think you'll find that it's pretty straight forward and well worth the time invested to learn it. Plus it cheaper than DFI
I run Keith Black pistons chevy pink rods and a forged crank, its a custom ground cam but I might upgrade to a Lunati when I put the AFR heads on. I make approx 450 hp and 530 lb/ft tq. I didn't build it the best its what I could aford at the time(4 years ago) When this motor dies I will go with the good stuff.

What did you go through when you installed the dfi? I've got this setup that comes with a fasttrack performance interface that's supposed to let the dfi work through the stock computer, but I haven't actually gotten under the dash to see how it hooks up. I'm building a 6" rod 383. You think 24lb SVO injectors will be enough?
thanks,
Dan
