1.6 ROLLER ROCKERS AND VALVE COVERS

I'm looking into getting a set of 1.6 roller rockers. I've heard of guys running into clearance probs with the stock valve covers.
Is this a common problem or can you get by with the stock covers?

-305 injectors & chip
-TES headers & edelbrock cat back

Best with 2.8-17.4@77mph
Best with 305-15.0@93mph
Best with 356-13.7@101mph
on a 2.050 60 ft.

I think it depends on what you are getting. If you are talking about roller tip rockers, I would say no. If you are looking at full roller, you may run into some clearance problems. I have heard of guys running full rollers under stock covers. Unfortunately I can't remember what brands work though.

The answer is yes and no, most roller rockers will not fit under the stock covers. You can either machine them to fit or buy new ones that have more clearance, or you can buy rockers that fit. There are three that I know of, Crane Gold rockers make a set just for centerbolt covers. The rocker is narrow and fits, Comp Cams has there pro magnum stainless that fits i think it is 1318, i would check first. They also make a roller tip rocker that fits centerbolt as well. I would personlly spend the extra buck and get either the Crane Golds or the Pro Magnum, both will be about $300. Good luck.

If you have pushrod guideplates get non-self aligning rockers.
BTW I used ProForms 1.6 ratio full rollers under stock centerbolt covers with .525 lift (Got good deal on them, only reason I use them)

I havn't had any problems with full rollers (not crane narrow bodys either) fitting under the stock covers.

All I had to do was get large vice-grips and crush the PCV baffle a little.
