Does anyone use a regular O2 Sensor with their headers??

I'm putting shorty headman headers on my 355 soon and I was wondering if it is even possible to use a regular O2 sensor... or will I have to get a heated O2 sensor for sure! If anybody is running headers with a regular O2 sensor please let me know!

When I put a 355 in my old Trans Am, I put the same 02 sensor in the Hookers as was in my original Manifolds.

Edelbrock TES and a regular Bosch sensor works like a champ!

I used the same O2 sensor off my manifolds on my SLP headers. I used to get SES light with a rich exhaust code haven't gotten a code since putting the headers in.

I use the stock single wire stock O2 sensor on mine. No problems here either.

I suggest buying a new one while you have it out. They are about $18.

as long as your cat isnt punched out, you shouldn't have a problem running a single wire O2 sensor. if you cat is punched or just not there, buy a heated one.

Thanks for all the replies! I was very hopeful until I read the last post! LOL! I don't have a cat on my car anymore! Guess I'll be looking into getting a heated O2 sensor!

I didn't have a Cat on my 86 either and still didn't have a problem, though my headers were heat wrapped so that might have helped as far as keeping the O2 sensor heated.

Well I think I'll just tryin' using a single wire first... it's cheaper anyhow! I called Bosch and can't find a 3 wire heated O2 sensor through them for my car! I'd have to buy the stock replacement 4 wire heated O2 sensor from a '94 + up Camaro or Firebird! Apparently, in 1994 GM started putting the 4 wire heated O2 sensor in ALL Camaros and Firebirds that came with the 5.7 engine! That one is $50 and then I'd have to try and figure out how the hell to hook the damned thing up! So I think I'll try the single wire first and go from there!

The three wire sensor that most people adapt to use on Thirdgens is the one from a '90 ZR-1 'Vette I believe.

SLP 1 5/8 headers with the original O2 sensor. 5 years and not one problem of SES.
