Question about Throttle bodys connections

I got a few questions,
On the throttle bodies, theres these 2 connections and wanna know what they are for just curious.

The one on the side of the TB that has the tube that runs from it to the canister filter on the drivers side front and also theres this nipple under the TB that runs to the same canister and splices into another hose.

WHat are they for and are they needed? the one under the TB I have removed and plugged but the other is still routed the factory way.

Re: Question about Throttle bodys connections

On my car the one under the throttle body goes to the EGR solenoid valve. The big one on the side goes to the passenger valve cover as part of the PVC system. The smaller one on the side goes to the charcoal canister.

Re: Question about Throttle bodys connections

yeah the smaller one on the side that goes to the charcoal canister. DO I really need that one?

THe one under the TB I have it plugged. Im think of yanking out my cruise cause for some reason it doesnt work any more ever since I switched to the HSR. When I go to use the cruise it just acts like if I mashed the gas to the floor. Im thinking not enough vaccum or something.

Re: Question about Throttle bodys connections

yeah i did the hsr swap and removed EGR but still have my old TB vacuum line hooked up. NOt sure if the cruise still work or not since i never use it. Thats what i was told it was for tho. But that line did go to a joint where the EGR vacuum lines also connected. not really sure of the function if its part of the egr or not. I dont think it was cuz egr worked off of TPS position. i may not use it again tho and just hack it all out of the car

Re: Question about Throttle bodys connections

The X marks what goes to the side of the TB and the - marks what I think went to the underside of the TB, I think, I cant remember its been like 4 years when I did that.
Does the X have to be there? or can that maybe be removed?

that connection to the TB is some kind of slider valve or something. what is all that? the red connector?

Re: Question about Throttle bodys connections

It's a solenoid that opens up and applys vacuum from the throttle body to the charcoal canister. Why don't you just plug the other end of the hose(X) into the side of the throttle body. It is the smaller outlet maybe 3/8" on the side of the throttle body opposite the linkage side. The larger outlet 1/2" goes to the valve cover.

Re: Question about Throttle bodys connections

yeah I know which one it is. will removing that tube and plugging both ends create some kind of problem? will the charcoal cannister function like its suppose to?

Re: Question about Throttle bodys connections

wow looks like a train wreck. that egr hose is wrong. the 90 degree boot underneath the throttle body with the little plastic tubing goes to the egr valve and depending which nipple on the side of the tb one goes to the valve cover other to charcoal canister. heres a picture to help show you.

Re: Question about Throttle bodys connections

yeah I know......theres no train wreck here, I dont have EGR or EMISSIONS.
but thanks for posting that link shows me that I have everything routed right which I already knew. I was just curious as to what was what and if I can remove the line going from the side of the throttle body to the canister. I guess I need to find out if I can just remove all of it.

Re: Question about Throttle bodys connections

For the charcoal cannister to work properly you will have to hook that vacuum hose up to the throttle body. If you get rid of it you will need to vent your gas tank. New gas cap?
