need help with a cam

I am sawapping to TPI. I have Edelbrock RPM heads on a 9.5 compression 350ci. It will be backed up by a T-56 with 4.10's in the rear.

What kind of help do you want? I do think the 4.10 gears in a TPI car is too steep unless you are running tall tires.

well I will have the T-56 in there don't you think that will cut down RPM's alot? I haven't decided on which aftermarket basplate I want but I will have SLP runners ported plenum, and 24lb injectors. what cam should I use for this set-up? Does everyone think that 4.10 are too much even with the T-56?

Unless the SLP runners are fully siamesed then you still have an extremely long intake tract so your torque will still be heavily biased to the lower RPM range and your HP will probably max out at 5000 to 5200 rpm. But I suffered brain fade on the T56, that should allow you to run through the traps in fourth near the peak of the power band. There are a lot of great cams out there for your combo what is the max lift your valve springs allow?

.535 is the max lift on the Edelbrock springs.

The 4.10's are short gears. I'd run Drag radials all the time. If you can shift FAST then you should be OK. But that engine is going to wind pu very fast.

true but the T-56 has a pretty easy first gear don't you think? It is 2.66. if you guys don't think so then I will use the 3.73's sitting in my garage.

does anyone have a good idea for a cam? emissions are not a concern. it is a 350 I might even port the heads this winter. It is the car in the sig. What do you guys think? I don't mind lopey or what ever I just want to make a lot of power!

This won't be a stock TPI either. It will have siamese runners and an aftermarket baseplate. ported plenum. bigger throttle body

ZZ4 cam, LT4 HOT cam, TPIS ZZ9, one of the LPE cams, several from Comp. I would probably go with either the ZZ4 or LT4 since the price is good, but the others will do nicely as well. With your combo, you'll need some good airflow for the LT4 HOT, although you could stuff it in under your carb setup. I'd probably err on the mild side and grab the ZZ4 for around $160 or so. Just my $0.02.

Can you give me some specs on these cams? I plan on getting siamesed runners and porting the plenum alot and getting a high flo baseplate like the edelbrock and porting that too. probably port the heads and get a 58 mm throttle body. with 30 lb. injectors. sounds good? What would be the wildest cam to make the most power? I don't know much about the limitations of TPI but i am trying to get it to overcome its breathing problem.

Yes that would be a good cam. I wouldn't waste your money on a 58mm TB though, it's overkill. If you have to have an aftermarket TB get a 52. The new GM RamJet 502 Big Block makes 502 HP with a little ol 48mm TB just like on a stock TPI.

thanks Flash and everyone else for all your help. I saw that in their catalog it said 350 TPI with modified intake runners and exhaust so I figured it woud be good.
