500 hp cam .....
I'm considering this cam, It's specs are as follows.
Cam Specifications
234/232 @.050
296/304 advertised
.539/.558 lift
112 LSA
duration open/close @.050 cam lift
10/44 int. 58/4 Ex.
Anyone running this cam. pn. 109841
I'm looking to use it with a Mini-rammed 383 advanced 4 degrees and 1.6rr's. This was reccomended by my engine builder. What's the take on it?

Give us some more information on your setup and the goals you have for the engine. What heads are you going to use. That cam doesn't sound right though. Usually the split pattern cams have more exhaust duration than intake duration i.e. such as 242/248 on mine. Who make's it and are those lift numbers with 1.5 or 1.6 rockers?

Scott, it's a Crane Cam. Powermax series. Here's the link.
http://www.cranecams.com/master/apps/chevy38.htm#4. PowerMax
Mini-ram Felpro 1205 intake gasket
1.6rr's
above cam
heads flow 285 intake @.600 225 exhaust @.600
10.2:1 Forged TRW pistons
383 scat crank
scat 5.7 rods
DFI: Accel 6.32
30lb injectors
58mm TB
T-56 six speed
3.73 gearset
Auburn SLP take out
built by www.rehermorrison.com
Car is mainly going to be setup for RoadR acing/Topspeed/street/some 1/4 mile.
I'm looking at possibly a two-stage 200 shot (75/125 progressive), but that's for later. It's still going to have AC and power accesories. A true multi-purpous car. The ultimate Street thirgen.
Well, that's the goal, my head porter says this cam is good. Just wanted to see if anyone is using it.

It looks like it will be well suited for your goals. Just be sure to get a light valvetrain so you don't get any valve float in the upper rpm's. You might want a little more compression though. Perhaps shave the heads a little to get above 10.5:1. I have 10.8:1 in mine with no knock what so ever. I wish I would have gone higher like 11.5:1. am using the same parts you are except for the DFI and T-56. What kind of heads are you running?

They're ZZ4 castings with ALOT of work in them. About 2 grand worth of porting. The guy I'm getting the motor from is a cylinder head porter at Reher-Morrison. It's unassembled at this time but will be going together soon as the clearancing was finished last week. I'm really hoping this motor is gonna do me what I need it to.

oh, PS.
I've talked with the fellas at the shop and we're gonna run a thinner head gasket to kick up the compression a little more.
