Super Ram and Wiper Motor Prob.....tried flipping mounts!!!

Well I'm running into the normal wiper motor/plenum issue, but I flipped my wiper motor mounts around and it's still not even close. Anyone have any other suggestions? Also has anyone ever had to grind the bottom of their runners to get the bolts to line up right??? I did and it was a pain!!!

I had to take my rubber mount off of my wiper motor. I don't think flipping them will help. Try taking off the one closest to the corner of the intake. The bottom leftmost one.

This is kinda weird b/c mine fits w/ no problem and I'm using the rubber mounts. Maybe you should try getting some new motor mounts???

New mounts will definately not work because I already tried it with no mounts at all and it won't fit. I have a feeling I'm gonna be screwed here.

I know this isnt the right way to fix it but...
I put an 1/2" aluminum spacer plate under the tranny mount, which raised the trans/rear of engine enough so I could plug the pigtail into the wiper motor.
Hope that works for you.

Hey that's a pretty good idea. I'll have to try that if I can't come up with an alternate for a narrower wiper motor. Did you make it yourself or have your machine shop do it? Where would I go about getting a piece of aluminum like that?

I think a buddy of mine got it at work, but I usually have some scrap
metal around anyway. If not try a local metal yard / steel supply, they
have all kind of metals - new and used. Yea it can mess up the driveline
angle, but it seems to be OK on mine, and I'm making an adjustable
torque arm for it so atleast I'll be able to fix the pinion angle. I dont know
how critical it is to keep the whole driveline in a perfect straight line, but
when your suspension moves it gets a little out of line anyway. So I think
thats OK, aslong as you get the right penion angle and the car hooks!
Unless your makin over a 1000hp I dont think it maters. Mine will be
a 450hp 383, it should work.

Anyone know of a shorter wiper motor? I have the '89 style with the pump in the reservior already, and my motor won't fit even without the rubber isolators.

I'm wondering if there's another application that I can use that's thinner (anybody know about the 4th gen ones?) or I might have to resort to surgery on the motor I've got...

Mine fit no problem with a 1987 wiper motor, about 3/4" clearance. Maybe you can swap motors.

I have an 89 and it fits fine.
I believe there are two different size SuperRam plenums.
Damn this post is old.
