I think the Edlebrock base is pretty good... they had drilled the bolt holes (to the head) to fit either the pre-87 or post-87 heads.. also, there was a lot of extra material that I could do port work with (as compared to stock).
I also have the BBK/Edlebrock 52mm TB that I have no complains with.. EXCEPT that the TB gasket that came with it was for the stock 48mm TB. So, if you do get the 52mm, pay attention to the gasket.
I am using the Accel LTRs, and those were a bit of a pain, because you can only put them on/take them off with the valve covers OFF.. we weren't prepared for that, and thus it became the "black sheep" of the 3 aftermarker intake pieces that I have.

I have the Edelbrock intake, I like it. I also have SLP runners and headers. I like them also.
I got the intake new and bought the runners and headers used to save some cash.

Car: GTA -89
Engine: Blown 415"
Transmission: 4L80E
Axle/Gears: Strange 12-bolt
Base: they are all the same to install so get the cheapest one, I think that would be accel/edelbeock.
Runners: I cant remember that installing them would caurse any problem. The most popular is the AS&M and SLP runners. Do a search and you will find alot of info about them.
Headers: SLP are the best says many people, but expensive. When tou install them you'll have to lift the engine a little bit.

I have the edelbrock base and love it I also got the AS&M Runners. They bolted up ok but the inside bolts for the runners were a tad off. I have to enlarge the hole on the baseplate to get the bolt to slide in and to thread it in. Also I could only bolt up the runners with the valve covers off.

I moved the steering shaft just to make installing SLP headers (1 5/8") a little easier. Other than that, I moved nothing. They slipped in with little effort.
