What is this noise?
I have had my car sittin in the garage the last three weeks, and now it makes this loud clickin sound whenever the engine is running. It also dies when i try and start it, and the clickin goes along with teh engine speed. THe higher I rev, the faster the clicking sound goes. What do u think it could be, Ive heard everything from dirty fuel injectors to broken pushrods, bearings. What should I do?

hows oil pressure and oil level?
also, is it a high pitch sound, or a low kinda metal sound?
and is the sound harmonic, or is it kinda random,
and as far as the injectors, they're supposed to be kinda loud, means they are working properly, so u can eliminate them

The valve covers where felt to see if anything was hitting them, and nothing was noticed. Also, the engine sounds like **** when u rev it. But runs pretty good once I start to go, not perfect, but pretty good. Also, how could it be the injectors, if there was never that noise before. This is a constant, harmonic sound. It does sound metallic I think. What u guys think?

How can I tell if the valves are tapping? Is there a test for that sort of thing? If that is the case, would the valves need to be replaced?

it NEVER hurts to reset valve lash, there are two ways to do it, running, and not.
Runnings probably the easiest and most accurate although a little messy. Pull your valve covers (one at a time). Start up your car and back off the nut on the first rocker arm slowly untill you hear it start to click, then tighten it down 1/2-3/4 of a turn, then move onto the next. Do it to all 8 then go to the next side.
As far as with the car off you'll get alot of different opinions on how to do it, the most common I believe is tighten them down till the pushrod's hard to spin with your fingers, then go half a turn. I always do it with the car running so you may want clearification from another member on the car off technique, good luck!

Injectors can get pretty noisy. Have you checked your spark plugs yet? If one or more are extremely clean, then a fuel injector is toast.
If not... then it is time to pull of those valve covers and inspect for looseness.

If you do the lash without the car running make sure that the cylinder you are adjusting is at TDC. This means turning over the engine by hand for each set of valves. Ive done it both ways and it is a bunch easier to just do it while it is running (oil will come out so be ready). Once you get the valve covers anything else in the upper engine that would be causing the sound will become visible.
I'd start with this and move on from there.
good luck
