Line off of TB cut?! help!

Hey guys...
My 350 TPI is weak on power, and i finally think i figured out what it might be...
there is a black hose that's on the passenger side of the throttle body, i don't know... prolly about 1/2" in diameter. well it runs about 3" and then has been cutoff by previous owner.
any idea what this is for? I'm actually HOPING that it robs power... that way i can fix it.... and get back the power....
any help would be great... it's on top side of TB on passenger side....

thanks a million guys,
Garett

The top or bottom hose? The top one goes to your valve cover, the bottom to the charcoal canister. They could cause a vacuum leak, block them off and see.

Probably coolant line if it is at the bottom of the TB.

okay the line i speak of is the lower of the two lines... it is sliced right in half!
it sucks in air and when i put my finger up to it it sucks it like a vacuum would... does this line go to charcoal canister? cuz on the charcoal canister in my car there is a little female type plug where it looks like a rubber hose is supposed to go on, approximately same size, and ther eis nothing there.
when I plug the hole to this "vacuum line" we'll call it the car wants to almost stall... .
anyone?

thanks guys

Yep, that's definitely the charcoal canister line. Sounds like the previous owner broke the vacuum line going to it and decided it was better to cap it off, except that he forgot to cap both ends. There's also a coolant line coming out of the right side of the TB underneath the c.c. vacuum line, unless that was re-routed (popular mod).

okay my next question, how do I fix this problem? do i route a new hose to the charcoal canister now? or do I cap both ends? if I cap both ends, with what?
the car almost wants to stall if I plug the hold where the line was sliced (up by the throttle body).... and at a stop light my voltage goes down....
can someone help me please?
oh and would this affect my power any? cuz my car's getting beat by 5.0 mustangs i'm wondering what's wrong with my 350 TPI by the way it IS for sure 350 TPI.... thanks

Charcoal canister is a small NTP connecter.

If its 1/2 inch it might be his valve cover breather. BUt then again, that shouldn't have
much vaccume.

If it is your charcoal breather, make sure you reconect it else your tank may rupture.

There is a line capped off in my car from factory... I believe its the furthest one on the right on the canister (if you are looking inside the engine compartment from the front) So that may be the on that you think was capped off, if so.. its supposed to be.

okay here's the latest:

the rubber hose that was cut I mentioned is not 1/2" like I said... it's a little smaller than that 1/2" is huge... it's probably about 1/4" or so. on my charcoal canister there looks to be three inlets... the two on the left side of the connector on top of canister are already being used... now one on the right is open...
is this the one you're talking about?

anyone have emissions control diagram? I've tried to search ont he net can't find anything... I have a chilton's manual for my car bu tit's an hour drive away :/

thanks guys

That hose loops down below the throttle body behind the alternator(in your case) and across to connect to the top of the charcoal canister. I'd have a picture, but I left my hard drive at my house and Im at my brothers. If there is something blocked off on the charcoal canister that is the same size, try connecting it to that. Otherwise just run a long hose(its at least four feet long) over into the corner by the charcoal canister and see if that helps until you can get a picture. Make sure you don't kink it when running it under the throttle body. There may actually be a little support bracket to keep it from touching the intake manifold on the drivers side. Good luck.

Low alternator output could cause your car to run badly and not charge correctly which would be most noticable while stopped. You may want to remove your alternator and have it tested. My blinkers used to slow down when I stopped, but the alternator output was still about 13.7 volts.. I knew it was dying. When I tested it today it only put out 10 volts, my blinkers were practically stopped yesterday. I replaced it and my voltage stays pretty high, but it never goes near the red at idle. My car also felt pretty slow when that thing gave out on me.
