Hey all,i have a 1988 firebird t/a formula 350 with a 305 tpi engine, and i just installed a new set of oem spark plug wires, and spark plugs and now the car won't idle, and it idled fine b4 i changed the spark plugs and wires, i did some re-routing of the wires to keep them away from my headers as that was the reason for changing the wires because some of the plastic clips broke and the wires fell onto the headers...could i have done something while i was re-routing the wires?, any help would be great..

 

loose, disconnected vacuum line maybe?

 

Check that all of the plug wires were put on in the correct location (firing order).

 

yes x2 on both replys.

Check to make sure BOTH ENDS are connected.
If you have to, take them off...and snap them back on.

Check and make sure you didnt knock off any vaccume line or sensor wires.

And please double check the firing order.
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
check the wires.

 

as said in previuos posts, check wires and firing order..
Also check so the conections into the distributor wasnt touch or loose.

 

thanx guys for all the posts, and good info, turns out i did it all correctly, but for some reason, the car decided not only did it want new plugs and wires but it also wanted a new pick up coil, replaced the coil and vwela, idles great now...sometimes i think if this site wasn't here i'd be so lost, and it would probably hurt the pocket book more too...thnx again guys for the help...

Yeah the pickup and/or ignition module is pretty common to, to be bad...
Those ones can cause alot of trouble...
