Ok fellow Tpi owners your help is needed.. I have a 1991 Trans Am Convert. 305.. I just replaced all the injectors and the fuel pressure regulator with and adjustable BBk unit..got it all wrapped up tried to start it and it ran for a few seconds and quit..I attempted to adjust the reg. and no go.. can't figure it out.. i tried to adjust the reg all the way down to fully open and still nothing.. I should just go back to the stog reg.. lol..

No and it's pissing me off, Im getting fuel to the fuel rails but it sounds like it's not getting gas to the injectors.. im baffled??????? keeps stumbling and i don't smell any gas in the Throttle body..

I installed a BBk adjustable , got pissed at that thinking that was it. I took that off and installed a Gm factory fresh unit and like i said it gets fuel to the rails but keeps acting like it's not getting fuel to the injectors.. Argghhh Im Effing going out of my mind lol. and my Back hurts too im 6'4 and it sucks bending under the hood. i should have just let the mechanic fix the damn thing but noooooooo! i tell myself i can do it.. Ok i feel a little better ..

Ok,no fuel to the inj.? hmm,possibly got blockage in the fuelrail??Have put a fuel pressure tester on the fuelrail port?

 

That i haven't done, but i can release fuel from the schrader valve and it's under pressure..

 

how far up does the fuel shoot?If it sprays out everywhere and hits the hood,then I would say pressure is good.But,really need the gauge to be sure.
I had a similar prob. with an old car,fuel pump came on and car barely idled(91 v6 bird) fuel press. check showed the eng. was only getting 11psi instead of 44+psi.New pump installed and car was good as new.

i put in Accel 19 lbs 14.4 ohms

 

Just an idea here. I went through this a wile ago. The VATS in your car will not allow the injectors to fire if they do not send a 4-5 volt signal at 30hz to the ECM when you are trying to start it. Try and see if it will fire with a touch or starting fluid. This 4-5 volt signal is only needed to get it to start. If it stays running after you try the starting fluid I would look into you factory security system. I doubt the chip in the key is the problem because if it was, the car wouldn't even turn over. Pull the boot off the TB hold it at WOT and give it a shot of starting fluid. Clost the TB and start it. Don't use too much starter fluid or you will have biger problems. Good luck

Ok i did that and it acted like it wanted to run, but it still sounds like it's starving for fuel. Mind you i started and ran before i changed out the injectors. it just had a miss in it that i had diagnosed and was told it had a bad injector which it did. So now i can't figure out why it won't start.. im gonna have it towed to AZTPI in the A.M. and have them figure it out as im fed up with it lol.. Plus im in AZ and it's hot in my Garage..

EFFING!!!!! FUEL PUMP WENT BAD< HOW the hell does the fuel pump all of a sudden go bad???????, Well only after you spend quite a few hundred more dollars for the injectors and other stuff. esshhhh.. well i guess i have cough up the money .. at least she will be back on the road..

 

 

It sucks that it went bad but it could have been worse. Glad you will be back on the toad.

Just go to the DMV and have them look up the VIN #. It will be under the cars you have owned in the past. Then they can look up where it is now if it is still on the road. They can at least give you the name and address of the last known owner. It is all public information.

so i got rid of her and im keeping the 91 conv, saving for a 2008 or 09 Z06 Corvette
