Re: wont idle
I had the same problem on a 89 iroc a few years ago. It was the MAF. It didn't throw a code but took it to the dealer and they dianosed it to the sensor. Replaced it and all fine
Re: wont idle
I just had this same problem yesterday. see my recent post - ":Starts then dies"
The MAF gods must be angry
Try unplugging it and it will probably run, but not so great throttle response - *way* better than with it plugged in.
I did the test twice to make sure. Just ordered a new one - ouch.

Check the TPS and IAC while you're at it.

Re: wont idle
idle air control valve.its under the tech section along with the throttle position sensor and how to check them.
disconnect the maf and see if it runs any better, if it doesnt than thats not it.
also check for vacuum leaks around the plenum, cracked hoses, loose hoses. anything like that, also spray some carb cleaner down the throttle body and see if it helps at all, sometimes if the idle air control valve is gummed up itll help out alittle.
are you throwing any code? does the car stay on if you hit the throttle? if not check the tps, and if it does help test your egr to see if its stuck open

Re: wont idle
I had a problem with my car not wanting to idle, changed everything imaginable accept the idle air control valve, turned out to be a bad distributor. But a reman in there and that baby idled awesome. But the tps getting replaced also helped, because mine was bad. The 2 owners did absolutely no part changing, they left it all stock so im the one taking a big damper in my wallet right now getting brand new things on the car. But if not the distributor try checking your magnetic pick up, if that goes bad, that will cause the idle problem. But try picking up a new maf, its not much, tps as well to begin things off.
