Dies when put in reverse

So I just replaced the ignition control module today to see if that would solve my high idle and stalling when put into reverse when hot. It didn't work because when I started it i put it into reverse and it quit. I have already replaced all vacuum hoses cap, and plugs the wires and rotor looked fine. it doesn't miss or anything like that. Could it be the iac being slow, or maybe the cts? what do i do next

You could have a vacuum leak somewhere else like an injector o ring. Does it ever stall in drive?

Re: Dies when put in reverse

Seems strange but I had a Montecarlo that would die when you put it in reverse when the transmission decided to die but drive was fine.

Re: Dies when put in reverse

could it be because something is wrong in the egr system, i have another post about that problem but that wasn't at idle so i didn't think they were related? It did stall once in drive when i had the ac on and i backed out of the driveway and put it in drive and it stalled. any other suggestions?

Re: Dies when put in reverse

i have the same problem but it doesnt happen all the time, like when i turn it on in the morning and its cold, the car will fire up and stumble horribly, like if it were running on 6 or 7 cylinders, then it warms up and its fine, then when i put it in reverse it does the same thing and almost turns off, but recovers and its fine. but last night while at the grocery store i had to reverse on a hill and the car just turned off on me, but i just turned the car back on.

heres a list of things replaced and mods

ignition coil (accel brute thunder)
spark plugs (ac delco)
spark plug wires (ac delco)
EGR (ac delco)
EGR air temp sensor (ac delco)
edelbrock headers and downpipe
3 inch exhaust and high flow cat
hooker muffler
waterpump
transmission rebuilt w/ vette servo
timing adjusted to 6* btdc
IACV

ive had the problem ever since my IACV took a crap on me. it would make sounds as if it were working but was completely broken, now i have a new one, but i still feel that my idle isnt set correctly since i feel its alittle high (tach doesnt work)

i also have a new fuel pump, but i feel that this problem is somekind of little sensor or some tiny thing i overlooked but it just makes driving my IROC annoying

Re: Dies when put in reverse

the only way to tell is to get it hooked up and see what each component is doing.

Re: Dies when put in reverse

i just hooked up my car to an Ethos Snap-on scanner. and i pulled out a code. and found out my tps had gotten misadjusted. which is possible since i had done recent work on the car. i adjusted the TPS sensor to the appropriate voltage and the problem seemed to get better. atleast the hesitation did. but about that code i pulled out. it was a coolant temp sensor. i replaced it and it seems to have gotten better between adjusting the TPS sensor and the new sensor. now it rarely wants to die when putting it in reverse, it now only wants to do it when its being turned on after sitting for a while.

Re: Dies when put in reverse

i found out mine is because of the egr valve, but right now i'm working on the transmission so it will have to wait...
