L98. SPARK PLUG QUESTION.....
SO MY CAR HAS BEEN MISFIRING AND THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.ITS GOT GOOD FUEL PREASURE, GOOD CAP AND ROTOR, GOOD SPARK PLUG WIRES AND ALL THE SPARK PLUGS ARE GOOD EXCEPT ONE. DOES THIS MEAN THAT, THAT INJECTOR IS BAD? IT LOOKS FLOODED.

Re: L98. SPARK PLUG QUESTION.....
It could be a bad injector it would definitely explain the misfire but the question is what is it coated with? Is it oil or gas? I cant really tell from the pic it kinda looks like oil.

Re: L98. SPARK PLUG QUESTION.....
well for starters i would check to make sure you have good spark on that cylinder. Also which cylinder was it that flooded? was it #7 or number #8 by chance? What im getting at is its very odd that only once cylinder would be afflicted. If it was something like the MAF sensor that would affect them all so sensors aside it has to be something thats unique to that cylinder. So thinking about things that would effect 1 cylinder comes to mind either a fault in the ignition system be it a plug wire or whatever, a bad fuel injector, a mechanical fault but also the fuel presser regulator and thats why I ask if its one of the back 2 cylinders. When a fuel pressure regulator diaphragm ruptures it dumps fuel into the plenum which will usually end up primarily down one of the back 2 cylinders (cant remember which one off hand). This causes that cylinder too be flooded and missfire ect. An easy way to check is to pull the vacuum line off the regulator to see if fuel is coming out when the fuel system is under pressure.

Re: L98. SPARK PLUG QUESTION.....
it's the injector next to the fuel pressure regulator. it does have good fuel pressure and no, no fuel comes out when i pull the vacum line out. all this started happening the day i ran out of gas ever since then it ran rough. could it still be the fuel pressure regulator?

I would check the resistance on that spark plug wire that came off that spark plug. Could be a weak spark caused by excessive resistance.

the spark plug wires are new they are the 8.5 msd's. i did check the for spark and its ok. on the fuel pressure gauge i noticed that the needle jumps to the misfire. and i keep getting code 33,34 and 36 all realated to the maf

Re: L98. SPARK PLUG QUESTION.....
I really dont think the regulator is at fault. If it was it wouldn't be only 1 cylinder that is effected unless of course in the case of a ruptured diaphragm then it could be. Also keep in mind if the vacuum line is attached to the regulator a misfire could cause spikes in the fuel pressure as the fuel pressure is vacuum dependent. for the code 33,34, and 36 this I find odd. A problem with the MAF would effect all cylinder not just flood one and although codes 33,34 can be tripped for reasons unrelated to the MAF like a poor running motor the 36 is tripped when the cars not even running so I'm inclined to believe that this is something that should be looked into. I would start by disconnecting the battery terminal to clear the codes and see if they return and also check the connection at the MAF.
