slow return to idle
When I am approaching a stop light or sign and I push the clutch in and coast to a stop, it is taking my car a pretty long time for the idle to go down to normal rpm's. And when I rev it up it will do the same thing. After is finally slows to the correct idle rpm's it will stay there and the car idles fine cold or hot. And it doesn't idle high or anything or stay at any one point. It just takes a long time to go from around 1k -1.5k down to normal idle. any ideas what would cause this?

Re: slow return to idle
I too have the same problem. The car will idle around 1500-1700 and takes about 6-8 seconds to idle back to 800 rpm. If I blip the throttle it seems to help it return a little faster. Drives me nuts.

Re: slow return to idle
did adjusting the IAC help? I have the same with my 5.0 tpi. sometime it'll stay at 11-1500 and sometimes it drop to 750 pretty quick. It seems that if even if your just rolling it'll stay at 1100 and then calm down when stopped.

Re: slow return to idle
Take the IAC out and try cleaning it first, (carb cleaner, etc) they get pretty carboned-up sometimes. Make sure not to damage or loose the gasket, then install and adjust per tech articles on main page.

Re: slow return to idle
I decided to order a new IAC since it is 22 years old. I also have a new 52mm TB coming. Should have things sorted out in the next couple of weeks. I will post and let you all know how it turned out.

Re: slow return to idle
I had the same problem,
Check if the spring that returns the blades back are not tires. Accelerate the car slowly to the 2500RPm, remove your foot from the pedal softly. Quickly go look at to TB and see of the lip of the Tb is back against the adj. screw. If is not that is probably the problem. I got a carb return spring and that fix my problem.
hope this helps.

Re: slow return to idle
Minimum air set incorrectly, reset minimum idle speed.
