Had an 89 stock with catback 224rwhp/33x tq which is average for those.
Low to mid 14s around 97mph

That's actually pretty stout if it's stock. From the factory they were rated around 240HP at the flywheel. So it's actually laying about as much to the rear wheels as it was rated at the flywheel from the factory. Vettes also have the handicap of all those power-sucking U-joints and bearings in the IRS rear end.

Re: Ever Wondered What a TPI Vette Dyno at The Wheels?
highest I seen posted on vette forums was 230whp stock..may have been a manual car i cant recall, but 215-220whp is common. They should make more hp than fbodys. I dont think they are much lighter if at all, but there are many bolt on cars in the 12's with TPI I believe, and not so many fbody's doing that with TPI. I cracked 12.9s in my stealth ram swapped L98 fbody but vettes I think were doing mid higher 12's
Notice he gained like 13 whp with just timing change? Thats a good gain and why I like to see 8-10 deg base timing increase on stock cars...good gains can be had with timing changes even on mild stock motors

Actually there was a little more in the motor if the owner wanted to persue it. As stated it was running a little rich at close to 12:1 AFR. Also it was pulling around 7 degrees of timing. So with some tuning I see an increase in HP.

The owner thinks the previous owner swapped in a camshaft. No idea what the specs are.
It was pinging really bad so we backed the timing down from 8* to 4*, and let it cool down some more. That is the reason for the power gain.

did you hear him say "that went way up" meaning they probably are dynoing it after something was done to it? just because the title says bone stock, doesnt mean that it actually is.
