in the process of buying a 87 iroc 5.7. This will be my 3rd 3gen camaro and my second 5.7 one. The first i only did full exhaust on and it sounded great! This one i want to do alittle engine work other then just the exhaust again and have included a list of what i want to install. What do you all think?????

Re: check this combo, what do you think?
You didn't mention a power or streetability goal for this.
Initially it looks as though your cam and head choices are both too big.
The larger TB is probably unnecessary.
I would look for a good 180cc head, and a cam closer to 210/220 int/exh on the duration.
I suggest saving some of the budget back for a custom tune when it's together and running.

I like most of the choices. I would stay away from the throttle body it probably won't net you much if any gain. Siamese the runners down to the last 2-3 inches and port the intake and plenum and you should be around low 300's at the wheels. I would say solid mid 12 second car.

Only other thing you could do is shave the heads down to 60 cc or so to bump compression up. It will lessen the effect of the larger 200cc ports.

would these heads be a better choice? I would have to change the valve springs for the cam i want.

your probably better off going with the trickflow 195s they are only alittle bit more.

Re: check this combo, what do you think?
i'd run the 200cc heads over those for this setup. Only thing you need to worry about is the port size could be a 1206 gasket size and the TPI manifold may not cover it properly without porting and welding up extra material to seal well.
You want a head with a 1205 port gasket size. Trickflow 195 and AFR 195 are 1205, I am not sure of the dart 200's or brodix heads in that range. There are some 180 cc heads that could work well. Brodix IK180's or dart pro 1 180's as well as AFR 180s which are all good heads. Even the RHS proaction heads. Probably make abit more power with the 200 sized heads but give up abit of lower end power/response.

there might be an issue with the ports lining up between the heads and the intake????

Re: check this combo, what do you think?
yeah there could be... 200cc head could have 1206 gasket size entry which is much taller than most intake manifolds as most intake manifolds are between 1204 and 1205 size. Every intake I've had, it was closer to 1204 and I port matched to my 1205 size heads.
You may not beable to port out the base to be large enough to fill the entire 1206 port. You can have a mismatch as long as the head port is covered with enough material to provide a good seal but your leaving some power on the table.
You just have to check with summit on what those heads use. One of the other brands may have a 1205 port 200cc head. AFR and trickflow 195's are 1205 so the 200 stuff shouldnt be any larger I wouldnt think. Someone will have to chime in on that.

Re: check this combo, what do you think?
Sounds almost like my engine i have stock untouched 350 block with Trickflow 195s Edelbrock hiflo base SLP runners siamesed ported plenum, cam is XR258HR-12,Accel 24cc injectors,Hooker 2055 + American thunder catback + 3inch fullflow Catco.
Runs strong but needs more stall and gears i would recomend, surprisingly strong despite low on compression, works with stock gears and original converter and stock chip(runs lean tuning is a must offcourse)hard to say hp but close to 275-300 maybe.....still not properly tuned.
Edit: Thought that the 195s would be to big but engine is surprisingly snappy and also you will have something to grow in if you go with stroker kits i would go with 195+ heads love them.
I did have an issue with intake gasket 1205 the intake gasket did not line up properly(close but not perfect)with the Trick flows had to reinstall and make use of much black permatec silicon also hard to get the gasket stay in place use screw in studs to secure gasket when putting on base plate worked fine at last.
Regards Mats
