Re: bad chattering no oil at rockers.

It could be either the oil pump or the cam bearings. Since the pumps are pretty tough it's little more likely to be cam bearings. Do you have metal fillings on in your oil? Looks like sparkles on the dipstick.

Re: bad chattering no oil at rockers.

no not at all . it just looks like brand new oil. when i pulled valve covers off i found thick white stuff that looks like water, however, this car has only antifreeze in it.i never put plain water in it.

Re: bad chattering no oil at rockers.

Thick white stuff is moisture. It sounds like you blew a head gasket or cracked something. Unfortunately you probably would find your bearings are wiped out as well.

As in there is 100% just anitfreeze and no watter at all? Regardless of what is causing this, you need atleast 50% water mixed with the antifreeze.

Does the guage read any oil pressure? Sure your filter isnt clogged?

Re: bad chattering no oil at rockers.

it was pure 50/50 antifreeze . i have a bad feeling my son dumped water thinking jug had oil in it. problem is i drove it around the block. thats when i found empty jug. any way took filter off and it too full of water. and oil pressure guage dont work. anything i can get to flush this crap out?

Re: bad chattering no oil at rockers.

If water was put in instead of oil, that would do it. I would drain the water, maybe even take the pan off to make sure you get all the water out, and then fill with oil. Drive it for a few miles, then change the oil and filter again and hope it didnt wipe a bearing out yet. If after putting oil in it the first time it still rattles like crazy, it might be shot. BTW, I would get a working oil pressure guage on it. Two guages I will never drive without, an oil pressure guage and a coolant temp guage. Everything else is for convience.

Re: bad chattering no oil at rockers.

oh no

yeah water and bearings.....not good bed fellows

if you drove any distance like that you may have very well wiped a bearing out

most likely senario: car sat over night, cam bearings or crank bearings got stuck to either the cam or crank, when you started it they spun and now the oiling holes don't line up.....oiling holes not lining up=no oile in the heads

i wish you all the luck in the world and hope that this didn't happen...but a rebuild always means you can upgrade
