Powermax 2032 cam - PRICEY!

Powermax 2032 cam - PRICEY!
I'm looking at a cam upgrade on my LB9 (305 tpi). I know many swear by the powermax but it is so expensive anywhere I look at over $400. I would be happy with a LT1 cam but can't find them anywhere either.
Can anyone advise, suggest or provide a source?
What else should I get done when replacing the cam- valve seals, springs, retainers?

you can get a custom grind for like $100 if you look around online, but most of the time it requires you to send your cam in first.

And yes, Crane has currently jacked up there prices. Happened after the new owners took over. $420 is about what you will pay for a Crane roller cam now. Last year they were $280 to $300.

If you already have a 5-speed car then the cam you have in it is almost identical to an LT1 cam. Will see no gains with an LT1 cam.

Thanks for the replies all, I don't want to go the custom grind route. What other options?

I know Crower makes some EFI cams but I am not sure if anyone ever put one in a TPI car. Most of them seem to have to much lift for the stock heads. Comp also makes some TPI cams but I do not have any direct experience with them. I will not use comp cam products. I have seen to many of there cams go flat.

i had the powermax 2032 cam like 3 years ago.... it costed me like 275 new from summit back then... idk why it cost 125 more..... that cam wasnt even all that great in my old bolt on 350 tpi.... look elsewhere for a cam
edit.... i noticed you have a 305... it may be worth it in a 305 but the price says NOOOOOOOO......

For that cheap I wouldnt trust it.. Not a fan of regrinds
This makes no sense. You can duplicate the same cam for 100 bucks less than the shelf grind, yet you can get a better cam designed for the application..... I dont understand why people dont want to go custom grind? Its not that expensive. ANY roller cam thats worth it is gonna be 260-350 bucks. Heck, I believe comp cams will do custom cams for same price as the shelf grinds.

So can anyone provide a link to a similar cam that will do the same job or a link where I can just get an Lt1 cam?

If you ran that with Beehives or slightly shaved retainers, it should clear. Exhaust is .471" lift, which is cutting it close. 1.5 rockers only.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LUN-50142/
Thats sorta like a more aggressive L98 cam with abit more lift on the exhaust side than normal.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LUN-54779LUN/
Thats alittle bigger at .489" lift.... almost like a hotcam with 1.5 rockers. Would require beehive type springs and attention to max lift clearances, but its possible it could work on stock heads with just a beehive spring swap.

comp 4x4 cam shafts could work too. 220/224 .474" lift. May need spring swap to a thin retainer like a beehive spring to gain the lift clearance.

Mild step up from stock. 206/210 with .458" lift.
Heres a nice one

210/214 .474"
Comp computer controlled 210/220 .480" .480". Again just about any of these cams over .460" will need springs/retainers to get clearance over the guide boss which beehives are known to give more clearance. I'd run PAC beehives 1218's. Should work well.

Re: Powermax 2032 cam - PRICEY!
You guys are awesome, thanks! I managed to find an LT1 cam and 1.6 Crane full roller rockers (self aligning) in the trades section.
Running this cam with the 1.6's I will need ZZ4 springs etc right? Then should be good to go?
