Recently bought a 1989 Camaro Iroc 5.7 TPI with Bose package options and differential australian 2.72 9 Bolt and the plenum has an attachment which you will not, if anyone knows it please let me know. I would think that is in cold start injector. Thanks, Look at the picture.

 

That looks like a ninth injector for sure. Looks like someone added it from a different application. The letters broadcast code on the computers memcal may tell another story.

 

Where does the other side of that hose go?

 

From the fuel rail with a banjo fitting to a injector mounted onto the plenum.

 

That is not factory on any GM TPI Engine I have ever seen, and I have seen underhood of several hundred original and modified cars.

It is not an 88 and earlier cold start injector, either, as they were not in that configuration. 89+ cars did not have the 9th injector.

It could be a NOS nozzle for extra fuel or even for a old blower or turbo kit. Kick it on when boost is boosting or the spray is spraying.
Old school stuff from back in my day..

 

I suspect it was driven off the throttle position sensor, or some other controller, activating the flow of fuel at (or between) a certain RPM. Maybe the car was supercharged or turbocharged, otherwise, I am not sure why it would be there, as running richer does not equate to performance.
