91 z28 Camaro 350 TPI
I bought my Camaro last fall with a blown transmission. After having it rebuilt and sometime(been stored in my polebarn) Im getting it up at running. The car starts with no trouble other then a tick I hear from somewhere in the motor. There are a few things that alarm me. Hose unplugged(pics below) ect. I have little to no experience with cars and looking for whatever help I can get. Below are a few pictures and a video of the "tick"
They replaced the one valve cover with this after market one. Is it ok to leave this line open like that? or should I buy the factory one bk
This is a green wire that is cut and going no where
This is an open line next to the transmission fluid
More cut lines off the exhaust manifold

Resize your pics a LOT SMALLER
Not everyone wants to spend time downloading a pic straight off your camera that is 45" x 25" and takes up 2Mb.
Check the size before you unload
This item ( the PCV valve) being used to plug a hole is supposed to be in the drv side rocker cover where the breather is
and connected to the vac hose you show.
If not sealed that open hose should be sucking air in ?

The lines sealed on the exhaust are for the AIR injection (pollution control ). Commonly done
Not a problem unless you need them in place to past inspection
Green wire is usually to a sender in the head for the temp gauge.
Does yours work?

Yes it is! I put on the old valve cover on and connected it as shown
I also noticed that the oil preasure drops to around 5 psi during idle and bk to 30 when gas is applied. Is this normal

Re: 91 z28 Camaro 350 TPI
Should be 10 -15 @ hot idle
Look for a sender with a spade terminal in the head between the front two spark plugs on drv side or rear two on pass side
As a gauge test ,ground the green wire somewhere and see what the temp gauge does when you turn the key on.
If the needle moves ,most likely the gauge is fine and the wire / sender unit is the problem

Re: 91 z28 Camaro 350 TPI
I was able to find this on the drivers side, between the two sparks plugs. Is this what you were talking about? The wire is stripped but I grounded it out and the temp gauge moved when I started the car
Im not sure if the gauge is right or not. Are there any things I could to trouble shoot this ?
Sorry again I have never little knowledge of cars. This was my way to learn in a way
Ive also change the size of the pictures taken from my camera hopefully that helps

Re: 91 z28 Camaro 350 TPI
that is the temperature sending unit... the green wire you speak of should be attached to it with a 'slide-on' connector. if the wire is just cut off, you can get replacement connectors with a lead at autozone or some other place. make sure you protect the wire from the exhaust, tho...

Got the temp gauge working. Still have the high oil pressure. Its sets around 30 when driving then back down to 5 when sitting. I notice an oil leak today. Still trying to locate where its coming from.

but if you know nothing about your car then even this Haynes book will teach you what is what.
Just nowhere as good as the factory manual when it comes to sorting out problems
