tpi harness conversion question

im in the middle of dropping in a tpi from an 86 to an 88. the car belongs to a friend. the 88 originally was a tpi but a p/o converted it to carb. the ecm have the same numbers. however there seems to be an extra plug on the 86 harness. I see where it plugged in on the donor car, but there is no plug in on the 88. its attached in the same area as the ecm connectors are.
what did this plug into? im not sure if it is not on the 88 or if it was removed.

A picture of the connecter with the wire colors may help.

Re: tpi harness conversion question

That is injector power and vss signal. pink wires will be fused 10 amp .
The brown wire is for the cooling fan relay.

Im pretty sure its part of the interior wiring it goes behind the dash and the two pink wires goto the fuse box.

i have been all under the dash on this 88 and there is no connector. i pulled the oem tape back and there is no cut wires. it doesnt seem like there was one in here.
i still have the donor car. if i have to ill pull it out and wire it in.

Yes that plug is factory and supposed to be there. I have one in my 1985 305 TPI car. That one looks like it is from the ECM side. The one attached to the car should be the pin socket.

this is from the 86 harness side. the harness im putting in this car. the original 88 harness appears intact and its not here. the tape look factory wrapped. ive been all up in the dash and behind the radio and all. I find it odd the p/o would have just removed this part and left the harness and ecm intact.
anything is possible. ill double check again this weekend.

Re: tpi harness conversion question

anyone with an 88 tpi please check your harness for this car. for whatever reason, it is not part of the harness from the fuse panel to the ecm. there are no cut wires or any other proof it was here. I need tov make sure. if not where do I wire this in on the fuse box?

Re: tpi harness conversion question

The pnk/black ones go to the fuse box injector 1 and injector 2 , 10 amp fuses .
The brown needs to tied into load side of c/h (A/C-heater) fuse in existing fuse box.

Re: tpi harness conversion question

ok thanks. im trying to help a friend get this car on the raod. its aggravating as hell right now.
I also have to splice the fuel pump connector to the wires on the tank. by chance do you have a diagram? black goes to black, but ive got pink and tan/white on the connector and a purple and grey wire from the pump.
thanks
