355 tpi with t5

Ok so i recently did a t5 conversion on my 88 firebird and im wondering if it is possible to get the tpi 350 to idle. Right now the idle on it is way to high 1100-1200 rpm exactly. Now i know i dont have a vac leak so im good there so my concern must be timing.

What is the correct way to set timing on the tpi setup. Wonder if i didnt do it right

Key off unplug est connector. Start car adjust base timing. Tighten up distributor and dbl check the timing then shut car off and reconnect est. Of course if you still have a auto PROM that would make you have a higher idle too

Ok so this is were i went wrong should i also bypass the aldl port this should help not having the ecm trying to fight with the advancing and retarding right ???? I'll give this a try and see if i can get it to idle somewhat decent ill be happy with a 800-900 idle

Re: 355 tpi with t5

did you change the chip? i believe the programmed idles are different due to the park/drive flag

there is a write up on adjusting the timing here: https://www.thirdgen.org/settingtiming

IDK what you mean by bypassing the ALDL and IDK what that would give you.

Yup. The man. and auto use different bins, and it's bigger than just the Park/drive flag. There are TCC settings, logr/higr settings, tables that depend on these... the MAN. bin pretty much adjusts tables based strictly on RPM alone, as the man trans has no switch to tell the ecm what gear it's in. He'll want to change his prom to a prom for a manual.

Re: 355 tpi with t5

Im wondering the same i would love to get it at 700. I actually played around with it today and kinda got it alittle bit lower i think 900-950 idle its at now which is alot better then 1100-1200. Im gonna see if i can get it alittle bit more lower
