EGR check engine light
My air pump has been deleted by previous owner causing my check engine light to come on when cruising at highway speeds. I been looking around and most people say I need to get a chip burnt to keep the light from coming on. Anyone know of a place to get one for cheap or a cheaper fix?

Re: EGR check engine light
your air pump is not related to your EGR... but still needs to be zeroed out in a chip... i'm sure there's guys on this site that will do that for you, for a price of course

Re: EGR check engine light
my check engine light comes on and it says EGR. My EGR is connected and assumed to be fine. My air pump is disconnected.

Re: EGR check engine light
so u grounded the aldl and what code did u get...
if your air system is removed and your chip isn't reprogrammed to reflect this change, it will throw a code. A.I.R system is different than your EGR

Re: EGR check engine light
couldn't the o2 sensor be expecting more oxygen in the exhaust stream and over compensate? obviously that wouldn't set off the EGR code... but thanks for the clarification

Re: EGR check engine light
So replace EGR then since air pump doesn't throw code? I just thought the two were connected.

No
Do the EGR diagnostics 1st.

Could well be a wiring or EGR temp sensor problem as much as or more likely than a EGR valve problem
