According to their website, Mahle was actually started in the 1930's.

lol good question. I got a 91 305 set of pistons at home i will go inspect to see if there are any markings. My thoughts were if somebody supplied them to Gm then they would leave their mark off the piston but who knows

Re: TPI go fast tips and tricks?

I didn't come across anything during tear down that would lead me to believe that this motor was anything but all original.

Mahle was GMs piston manufacturer for a while. I have had pistons with the Mahle stampings that I found in LT1 and Vortec engines.

Re: TPI go fast tips and tricks?

I just purchased, pulled and disassembled a mid to late 92 formula 350 engine today with mahle 4 eyebrow flattop pistons. Engine had never been apart before today. (Didn't have powdered metal rods)
A couple yrs ago I swapped a 305tpi oil pan on a good friends original very late 92 Trans am vert and it had powdered metal rods with mahle pistons. (Oil pan was rusting outside in)

The same day (This was early 1993), a 2002 WS6, M6, cam/heads/nitrous and drag radials could not get out of the 17s to save his life. My great grandson (at the time, he has since passed....I am 34 now), was running 11.85-11.90s with his BONE STOCK 89 Formula 3.1. This car DID have the factory G92 option, with STOCK Formula 14x7 steel wheels, and 195/70r14 tires.

NOW, with all that being said, EVERYBODY knows these cars run MUCH better when nobody is actually recording the runs, and they cannot be documented in any way. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry knows the recording equipment causes an "Magneto from the X-Men" interference with the ECM.

Hell, my 17 Ram 1500 sport clicks off low 12s at 146 MPH until people start fing it up with recording equipment.

Final point: I know a guy, who knows a guy, who's nephew, has a buddy, with 365 NOS T-Rams, 117 Dana 44 rear axles, and 39 of the original 27 Firehawks....
You're hilarious man.

There are more that i can't think of, but these will keep the stock look you want.
I have done this with our 92 Z28 5.7 and would like a prom made, any suggestions?

Re: TPI go fast tips and tricks?

This thread kinda scares me, but best go fast tips:

1. Address the exhaust
2. Add modern top-tier aluminum heads ($900-$1,600)
3. Replace air restrictor intake with FIRST Fuel Injection Intake ($1,050 complete)
4. Add Modern cam designed to take advantage of heads and FIRST intake
5. Upgrade injectors for your dramatically improved HP
6. Tune

OR:

1. Address the exhaust
2. ADD RCS Racing's 383 FIRST crate motor: 460 hp, 520 ft lbs: More HP and way more torque than a C5 Z06 Corvette, more HP and way more torque than a C6 LS3 Corvette (426 hp & 438 ft lbs with the optional performance exhaust) http://rcsracingengines.com/Perf%20C...evy%20EFI.html
3. Troll C5 Corvettes (Optional but highly encouraged)
