TPI help
Hey guys I need some help. I have an 89 iroc with the 305tpi and t5 and it sat for about a year. I went to get it back on the road again and found out that a couple of the injectors were bad. Well I just replaced all the injectors with replacements from South Bay and all new gaskets for the tpi system and now here is my problem.
It will fire right up but it jumps up to 2k and then drops down to about 1000 rpms for about 2 seconds and then dies and does this everytime I try to start it.
Any ideas on where to start or why it won't idle?

Re: TPI help
And I'm thinking about syphoning as much fuel as I can out of the tank, replacing the fuel filter and filling up with some premium gas to see if it will help at all. And thanks for the reply.
Re: TPI help
I really need to tune for the new Bosch d3 injectors? I thought they could be used just like stocks except they just had a better spray.

Others like me and several on this site did the swap and had all sorts of problems until we retuned for them. You can do a search on Bosch III, focusing on the DIY PROM section to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

It seems to be hit and miss. Some people do the swap and they say it runs fine.

Thanks I'll definitely look into it and see what I can find. And did your car just run rough when you did the swap or would it not idle or have any problems similar to mine?
Before the car sat I put a new fuel pump into it and whenever I was first trying to get it back on the road I replaced the plugs, cap and rotor, and ignition control module under the distributor trying to see if any of that would fix the problem.
Re: TPI help
It idled rough, fuel trim was all over the place, couldn't tune the power enrichment fueling, etc. Mine was one of the worse cases of this...
once I got the tune right for the injectors, it was a night and day improvement.

Re: TPI help
Hey just an update but pretty sure I have it fixed!
I went thru all the vacuum lines to check everything and the one that runs from the throttle body to the charcoal canister was dry rotted on both sides where they plug in so I went ahead and replaced it. Also I noticed the line from the brake booster to the back of the intake wasn't plugged in on the intake. Made me feel really dumb that I missed it but plugged it in and the car fired right up and dropped down to about 900 rpms and idles fine now.
Took the car for a test drive and it's running perfect and it pulls all the way to redline and hasn't stalled yet. Only issues I had was that the power steering pump was whining really loud but stopped after driving it for a little bit. Also that the car is running at about 210 degrees and will heat up to 240 and then drop back down to 200-210. I'm guessing the thermostat is sticking but the car ran at 180 degrees before it sat.
