water pump leak

Hello,

I noticed a leak in my water pump. The liquid comes out of the small hole below on the pump body.
I think to disassemble it but do not really know what is the purpose of this hole and why all of a sudden the liquid comes out ...

Thank you in advance for your comments on this problem.

Mike

Re: water pump leak

If coolant is coming out of the weep hole just replace the pump.

Re: water pump leak

Thank you for your answers .
So the pump is HS? This is not a story of seal or pump plugged?
I will buy a water pump, brand adelco on rockauto what do you think?

Thanks again

Re: water pump leak

How much coolant is in the circuit?
This will help me when the water is returned ...
Is there a bleed screw on the circuit to chase the air?
Thank you

The pump is worn out; simply replace it. Buy a new, original equipment replacement if possible.

The REASON w-pumps incorporate "weep holes" is to give the leaking fluid a place to go, when the shaft seal fails. Otherwise, the fluid would be forced into the outer shaft bearing, causing rapid, catastrophic failure.

Re: water pump leak

Hi,
So I have disassembled my water pump this afternoon,on the other hand i removed only 10 liters (about 2 gallons instead of 4 I think) but I see that the ducts behind the pump are still full so the rest must be in the engine block. Anyway the liquid was clean more radiator should not be very old I feel that it has been changed so the cooling circuit had to be followed before.
More than waiting for the new pump ...
Thanks for your help
Mike

Re: water pump leak

Change your belt while you have it off. Check both radiator hoses for wear. It’s shouldnt cost much more to replace them and you won’t have to worry about them later.

Re: water pump leak

Hi

No 12v on the connector
Do they rotate at the same time or one after the other?
Thank you

Re: water pump leak

2nd fan works with the air conditioner. There should be something plugged into it. It’s supposed to come on at higher temps.

Re: water pump leak

This is what I had understood with the Technical Review it is used for air conditioning.
Otherwise as my air conditioning does not work is it that I can couple the 2 fans for better cooling?

Yes oem most definitely. I purchased a autozone duralast one and it wouldn't fit. Had to grind it down on the left side and right.

Re: water pump leak

Hello,
Do you think it is possible to couple the 2 fans for better cooling as my air conditioning does not work?
In this period of heat, as soon as I am idling, the temperature rises high enough and quickly enough.

Thanks for your advices .
