ECU and PROMS

I’m in the process with a project 1986 T/A TPI, I pulled my ECU out and found it was a reman. 1227165. When I look up an ECU on rockauto they list a 1226870. What is the correct part number for this year? Also at work I found out we offer a plug and play JET 18617. Will the jet work in my current ECU? Will I still need to flash my old ECU? Please help.

Re: ECU and PROMS

Aum or amu chip code right now ?
numbers for refurbished 165 ecms are 77-7165, 16198259 and 88999194.There’s a few more too. The 1226870 will not work it’s a 85 one year only and uses a prom
and calpak different wiring pinout as well.

Re: ECU and PROMS

Awc has some service bulletins 86-194 not sure what the issue was
its a nb2 and na5 emissions chip that’s fed and ca requirements. I wouldn’t spend the money on a jets. What issues are you having?

Re: ECU and PROMS

So the car is in a no start condition since I’ve got it, I’ve went through changing multiple parts. I’m at a point where I believe the ECU is the issue. Was not sure if the one in my car was correct or not. And if I could just purchase a preflashed chip or would I need to get a whole ECU and put my old chip in it. I don’t really have a history working with

spark ?
injector pulse when checking with a noid light ?
any stored ecm codes ?
do you have a scanner to see if the ecm is getting a reference pulse ?

Re: ECU and PROMS

I do have spark, pulse to the injectors, and fuel pressure is good. I dont believe I have any codes, I’ll have to double check with the scanner.

Re: ECU and PROMS

While cranking with the est disconnected is the timing close to 6dbtdc ? . If you have injector pulse, good fuel pressure and spark. Timings off or you need to do a compression test.
