LOL, My cam in my TPI went right through the timing cover.

Im really gonna lose it this time, The idiots in the machine shop didnt install a cam button to prevent it from moving foward. Since the rebuild was done about a year and half ago its no long on warranty, and as my friend in his shop was putting the piston in TDC and cranking the cam made a whisling sound and made a hole on the timing cover. Now i gotta take the damn motor out of the car, Check and see if i gotta replace new cam bearing, check and see if i gotta replace all lifters and the cam. The cam isnt exactly sticking out of the timing cover but it made a hole and is inside the motor. He only cranked it for about a second or 2. Could it still have made a hole in the timing cover if cranked for at least 4-5 seconds?? I REALLY WANNA GIVE UP AND THROW THE CAMARO AWAY, but i have no choice and gotta rebuild the motherlover. pray for me.

i hear u im so destined to make this motor run mid 13' N/A that i have to get it done AGAIN. Hopefully everything is ok, the worst case senerio is that the Cam Bearings were nicked or that the roller lifters were bent, but i hope the roller cam is alright i spent close to $250.00 for that cam and hopefully it isnt damaged in any way.

What year is that block. If it is a stock roller, it should use a thrustplate to keep the cam from walking.

You shouldn't need threadlock on the thrust plate bolts, at least I've never used it and no problems.
So the bolts backed out?

I hope you don't need thread lock on those bolts, they weren't extremely tight coming off so I just put 'em back like they came out on my cam swap I just finished. I think i'd rather wait and see if they back out then going through all the work to get the timing cover off and on again.

trust me, use thread lock on everything accept rocker bolts, valve covers, oil pans, and timing covers. drilling broken bolts out of the motor is no fun.
