TPI throttle body differences
I've heard there are differences between the 85-87 Throttle bodies and the 88-92 throttle bodies. What's the difference and are they still interchangeable?
The 85-88 throttle bodies had a IAC control passage, which also can be seen on a 85-88 plenum. While the 89-92 plenums are missing this IAC passage. An early throttle body cannot be used on a later plenum, but a later throttle body can be used on a early plenum. I got this out of my TPI Swapper's guide. It's a good book that can help you find what you are looking for.

Just the throttle cable is different.
On the 85-87 the throttle cable fits over a pin on the lever and is held in place with a snap ring.
88's and later the throttle cable has a pin on the end of it that fits into a recess in the throttle lever.
this is the way it is on my two cars

No, they are not interchangeable, but check with the dealer, I believe the cable is still available, or maybe you could find a used one.
