come on there has to be some peoplein here that know of places to get a brand new GM wiring harness?
If you want to buy direct from GM your gonna pay a lot! Probably in upwards of $500 or more. You could most likely order them from any Chevy dealer.
As for painless they probably should be called painintheass. They work great in the engine, but don't expect to have things like power windows or dash light. Apparently it's good for building up a hotrod, not for a conversion.
As for ebay, GOOD LUCK! I've been looking for months now, i've seen a few MAF harnesses, but no SD harnesses. I've got a few leads, but it looks like i may have to have my tbi converted to tpi. Heres a guy that'll do it for around $150

Why not get one from a wrecking yard, and pick one from a V6. If I understand it correctly, the only difference between a V6 - 730 and a V8 - 730 is two injectors with the wiring harness.
Double check this. This is hearsay from this board.

From looking at the wiring diagrams in my shop manual, the circuits are the same and since both are batch fire, etc it should be relatively simple to modify a 3.1 harness to work with an L98, but some plugs have to be changed, plugs need to be added, some wires need to be shortened or lengthened, etc..

V6's are MAF and MAP the same years the V8's are MAF and MAP. The 90-92 3.1L uses the same computer as the V8's as well, the 7730 speed density. But the chip is different.
I'm currently converting a MAF harness to an SD harness, and it's actually surprisingly simple.
You basically buy the extra yellow plug that the 7730 uses and repin the wiring to use all three connectors in their proper positions for the 730. You add the wiring for the new stuff (most of which you can shuck from your old harness) Then you can (if you want to be thorough) remove the wiring that the 730 no longer needs (MAF sensor, MAF burn-off relay, MAF power relay, EST wiring, etc.)
Fun fun fun:rockon:
