How much does the throttle body really flow?

I have seen several conflicting flow numbers from several different
web sites on how much the stock throttle body flows

Does anybody really know?
Has anybody actually flowed one?

Think it's between 700 and 750.

In the TPIS insider hint book it says a 48mm T-body flows 668cfm and is the same as a 750cfm carb. Also it says with a airfoil the 48mm flows 709cfm.Hope it helps

566 cfm...but that is dry flow...equates to something like a 625-650 cfm carburetor +/-

At one point in time when we were discussing MAF flow.... Vader had this all figured out. Maybe he will see this post and still has the info........ I have it buried somewhere and can't find it.

OK, now we are getting somewhere.

Vader, calling Vader, where are you?

Shed some light for us here.

We are getting some different numbers now, same thing I got
a couple of years ago when I looked around.

GM stated in an artical that I read a long time ago that it flowed
530cfm and yes it is dry air so the figure sounds low but realy
isn't, add 20% to get the comparable carb size.

Most of us here will run out of motor before we run out of throttle body. They use the same throttle body on the 510 hp ramjet 502 motor, so...........

There is an old adage amongst drag racers, if some is good, more is better and too much is just enough. In the case of the TB, it's just like a carb. Theoretically a 600 CFM carb should be sufficient for most healthy 350's but in actuality they usually run better with a carb up to a 750 or even larger for a honkin mouse motor. Same thing here, even though the stock TB can flow a lot it starts becoming a restriction before it runs out of flow, so that is why a larger TB will usually help a healthy (modified) motor.
