Governor woes....
Here's the deal.
I swapped in a used fairbanks tranny with my vigilante. It was set-up to shift WOT at ~6k. Part throttle was a little long 2-3 & 3-4 but nothing extreme.
Anyhow, 6k was way too much for a stock 305, so i swapped in the governor from my old tranny that shifted ~5k @ WOT, and was actually short shifting part throittle due to being from a 2.73 car with 3.23s.
In the fairbans tranny things are different. It's doing 1-2 anywhere from 54-5800 inconsistently, and 2-3 @ 47-4800. Thats not too bad, but i would like to get that 1-2 down some. The problem though is part throttle. This thing is trying to wind first way out all the time (3-3500 minimum), even barely touching the gas. This is kinda annoying. 2-3 is late as well, and 3-4 is fine.
Any ideas on a givernor that might be more reasonable at part throttle and give me 5k WOT shifts. Am i doomed to TnT with the B&M kit?

Just buy the B&M governor kit and start playing with the springs and weights. It took me three tries to get it right with my 87 GTA.
