TV cable problems!!!!help!!!
i tried adjusting my TV cable the way my Haynes manual tells me to by pushing the throttle all the way mashed and then push the D button and im done, however this messed everything up the car waits untill like 3500 rpm to shift and when it downshifts it feels like i've hit a wall of pillows. and the other day it wouldnt even shift into OD at all!!!!!! and i have also tried to adjust it the way it says in the tech pages, but it does the same thing, is there something im missing or forgetting to do, this is really getting me down about my car, please help??

Well, the way I have been adj. my TV cable for years is to push the D button and pull the TV cable towards the firewall as far as I can. I then remove the floor mat mash the throttle to the boards slowly. You will here some clicks as the TV cable adjusts its self. Of course its a good idea to check for WOT before you do this adj. If this don't work mabey the cable is broke? If not you better check your governor.

To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the 'D' shaped lock button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting (The black housing that the metal cable is in will move forward). Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the 'D' button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can (putting maximum tension on the metal cable) and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable casing so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.

you know what, i am having to same exact problem that you are having, no shifts until 3000RPM at very low throttle, then a very hard 1-2 shift, and a really weird downshift, in a few minutes im going to go back out and try to get it adjusted again but i dought that it will work. This sucks, i thought that adjusting the TV cable was suppose to help shift points, not hurt them.

ok, I FIXED IT!!!!
when you have the car at WOT you need to push the black rectangular piece and telescopes in and out of the tv cable's bracket into the brackets (towards the firewall). i had my roomate floor the pedal and i held the D button in while i pushed on that black piece as hard as i could into the bracket (towards firewall). This got my shift points back to normal and alittle better than they were before i started messing with the cable. This has to be your problem. If you can reach the rear of the bracket, you can pull on the black tubing , that surrounds the TV cable, towards the firewall, i couldnt reach it cause there was so much stuff in the way. This should solve your problem, it solved mine and i have the same one you do.
