Energy Suspension tranny mount problem
Energy Suspension tranny mount problem
I just put on an energy suspension tranny mount in today part # 3-1108, and I cannot get the middle bolt to fit inside the crossmember, the whole in the crossmember does not meet up with a whole in the tranny mount, how can i fix this?
If this helps my crossmember bolt is in a hole all the way to the one side of the tranny mount. If I remember correctly there is some adjustability somewhere (slide holes) whether it's where the tranny mount bolts up to the tranny, or the crossmember itself.

i remember having problems with that too. i boxed up the mount and was ready to send it back when I tried again. I got it in there, i know i had to movbe the tranny around side to side a little bit. It works, just keep at it

i actually had a similar problem when i originally replaced the tranny mount. the car had been driven so long (previous owner) without a bolt that the tranny shifted over a bit. just used the good ole crowbar, moved the tranny back to where it belonged and the mount fell right in place. putting the ES poly one in as soon as i;m done rebuilding my tranny.

I'd check to make sure your motor mounts are ok. Your transmission shouldn't be off very far! I just put my energy mount back in and everything is centered perfectly on my car. I did have to file the hole in the crossmember for the new bolt to fit, but that was all.
Keep in mind that there is some amount of adjustability on the crossmember. If you loosen the 4 bolts you can slide it back and forth about 1/4", maybe more.

Use a lever. Hitting something like that won't do any good.
If it really won't line up, loosen the crossmember bolts so that it can move around.
It won't hurt anything if the holes don't line up perfectly before you tighten the bolts. All you'll do is stretch the rubber in teh engine mounts or the trans mount a little bit, and then it will settle into its new shape the first time it heats up from running the engine.

OK, just got it in, i think i just regained about 20-25 torque now, i've got tire spinnage on demand
not even at WOT, my gears are smoother and hit harder on the accelerator, thanks a whole bunch you guys. AND Thank the Lord no more CLUNKING!
