Sounds like the Throttle Valve is stuck. Its a common problem w/ the 700. You can try and adjust the cable, I have occasionaly been able to free it up by merely adjusting the cable. If you get the TransGo kit installed, it won't do it again.

I am having the exact same problem as of today. Is it the throttle valve? if i go from a stop and get toing in first i have to get the rpms up to like 3g's and then let off and it will shift to second. I've adjusted the calble twice. Does this sound likea throttle valve to you guys? I wanted to get a Transgo shift kit and then this happened. if i get one, problem solved or will i be wasting money? BTW... there is a article in the tech section on how to adjust the TV cable

Definatly sounds like the tv valve as the governor pressure (RPM's) need to overcome it to make the shift.

To fix this you need to drop the valvebody...

Remove the roll pin where the TV cable presses the plunger in... and remove the entire lineup not forgetting the order. Then scotchbrite the tv valve (All the way in the back) and I usually grind off the tit (Farthest back) and double spring the valve.

But to answer your question, if it is the Throttle Valve thats getting stuck, then YES the TransGo will fix it. They use a "self cleaning" valve and double booster springs. That is just one of the many benefits of the TransGo.

Hey, I see a gm "repair kit" in that top photo. looking at that valve body where is the 3-4 shift? I'm trying to figure this kit out and I have my valve body out. Where do the other parts go? Help please...there is lots of talk on here from searching, but no clear answers!

The GM valve in the photo is the 3-4 shift valve, sleeve, & spring.

Yep, I know that...which one does it replace? There are 4 of these in a row for different shifts and I don't know which one is which! When looking at this picture from the top of the valve body which one is the 3-4 shift? Also I replaced the regulator pieces and there isn't any play after the snap ring is in. Is that normal? It seems that I could push it up and down a little before I originally took it out. I wish someone would put a sticky in this forum on the instal for this....seems to be lots of repeated questions with vague or no answers. I would of taken photos and documented mine but I'll be lucky to get it back together!!

This should help:

B-Body fix kit:

GM #8673948.

The sleeve, the spring and the plunger replace the stock 3-4 shift valve. The parts
go into the valve body. Here's a great picture:

If I could only see that pic!! Like others on this board it takes me to the site, but it seems that I need to pay a membership fee to see anything. Is there a way around this or could you post the pic differently?

Guess it had to happen sooner or later. Sorry, didn't know that they went subscription. I think I have a pic around, if I find one I'll post.

It is the valve on the top side of the valve body in the picture that is in the middle. Look at the end of the bushing and you will see that the one you are taking out has the same look as the one you are putting in. There will be an open area where you can see the 3-4 shift timing spring, install in reverse order.
