problems with my megashifter
I put in a megashifter. You need to take the parking interlock cable off your stock shifter and then you wire it with the cable pushed all the way in and wrap a heavy piece of wire around the end to keep it pushed in. That way it won't affect anything.

play with the cable. it changes how hard it is to shift... having the cable straighter at both ends makes it easier to shift. problem is, the straighter the cable is at the ends makes it more "loopey" and it can interfere with your driveshaft. I just found where i wanted it, then put a piece of metal around the cable and bolted the metal to the floorboard so it wouldnt move. nice and easy to shift now.

dont mean to revive the dead old thread...
So no one has ever modded the interlock to go on the megashifter? i would still like this to be operational cause it seems somewhat important...
what does the interlock do?

The interlock cable is to make it so you can't shift it out of park without having the key in the ignition and turned past the first click. I think that was for theft prevention so somebody couldn't come along and shift your car into neutral and push the car away. I don't think it's a factor if you have any type of theft prevention. I guess if you let kids play in the car you wouldn't want them to be able to shift it out of park and roll off down the road without the key. I dunno.

sorry, i did, i was jsut more concerned at the time if i can reconnect it, i apologise if i snapped at you but if you read my other post youll see why im a lil snappy...
Ok, sorry. I'm not sure what bolt broke but can you get a vise grips on a piece of it and turn it out? Or if you can get a drill to it drill out the remains? Or use an easy-out? You need to drill a small hole through the middle of it and then thread in an easy out which has reverse type threads on it and as it threads in it will bind up and start to turn the broken bolt out. Good luck.

the bolt that was broken off is connected to linkages inside of the transmission...i had to open the trans pan and disconnect stuff then push the bolt from the transmission out......
heres the diagrahm, the broken bolt(which i still need to find is #707 and i need the seal (#708)) but if you look at the diagrham i broke the threads to the far left of the bolt, after the threads everything to the left is the transmission...
