Trans will not shift into drive or reverse....
I just got my 6.6L tuned port started and running and know the transmission will not shift into drive or reverse. The engine starts in park and neutral like it should. Is there a possiblity that the overfilled trans fluid could have caused this problem? The only thing I remember doing to the trans is adding a new tci converter (2400-2800)...I left the transmission in while doing the engine swap. The shifter cable seems to be intact. What else could cause this problem.

are the tranny and motor COMPLETLY together? You may not have got your tc all the way on...you put it on the shaft then turn it until it goes on further....ask me how I know this...

when it happened to me.....the tranny case was away from the engine about 1/8 " at the top...had to really look to see it....the converter only sits about 1/4 to 1/2 " away from the tranny case ( bellhousing)....

It sounds to me like you didnt get the new converter seated all the way before bolting the engine up to the tranny. If this is the case, then thats VERY bad news for you. I have seen a few lucky people, but the majority of people who don't get the converter seated all the way crush the pump rotor.

I'm in the process of taking the torque converter off along with the trans. I hope that that the front pump isn't damaged or the torque converter. If so i'll be swapping in a built up th350. Thanks for the input GM Tech and Riley.
