200 4R problem

200 4R problem

at WOT high RPMs the tranny needs to shift but "searches" for a gear. Coming to a complete stop it won't downshift and the engine lugs.

Any Ideas?

Axle/Gears: 3.73 posi with spacer

You need to correctly adjust the T.V. cable.

Tried the following...

push cable all the way in and ratchet out with gas pedal

push cable all the way in and ratchet out with the TB linkage

held throttle all the way open while pushing D button and pushing plastic sleave back

got any more ideas?

Torque converter clutch solenoid.

a local builder did mention something about the solenoid

also the tech said that it wasn't locking up

Unplug the 4 wire connector. Drive it for a week like that (200-4Rs do not burn up w/ out lockup as 700s do). You'll know whether it (TCC sol.) is your problem or not.

Do the 4th gear pressure switch, TCC solenoid, fluid and filter same time.

My 87 has my 86's original tranny in it. Trans. has like 171k on it now. I did the sol. some time ago.
