Would the L98 corvette's 6spd. transmission (and bellhousing)bolt-up to a 350 Camaro/Firebird?

I dunno about years, but they did use the ZF 6-speed in some of the C4's. It'll bolt right up to a 3rd gen engine, but fitting it in the car might be a bit of an issue. I know it can be done (they built some of the Firehawks with ZF-6's I believe) but it'll probably take a good bit of fabbing.

89-91. In 92 they got the LT1 with the same trans. It will bolt up but it is easier and likely cheaper to do a T56 swap. I also believe the shift quality is better with a T56. There are also aftermarket crossmembers for 3rd gen T56 swaps. The T56 is also lighter than the ZF box. Last but not least, replacement parts for the ZF are expensive and hard to get.

I think it's also supposed to be slightly stronger....but the T-56 is factory underrated at 450ftlb. If you're makin too much power for a T-56 then you need to be running a TH400 or something.

Rebuilding a ZF is more expensive and more complex than a T56. And the transmissions themselves & clutches are more $. Skip it.

Sure, people have done it. It's just a B-W Super T-10 with an unreliable O/D unit. Go Richmond instead and save yourself headaches.

The 4+3 is one of the most amazing tranny's out there. Amazing how much of a pain in the a$$ it can be, that is.

A T10 with an overdrive attached. It gives overdrive in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear...making it a 7 speed. I don't know why everyone bashes this trans. My friend races C4 Corvettes using the 4+3 exclusively, and it never lets him down. It also gives him the advantage of 7 speeds, very valuable on a road course.

The TPI vettes were from '85-91 I think... '84 they had the 350 CFI and '92 they got the LT1
