Noise if I accelerate hard

If I accelerate hard from a dead stop I can hear a noise, sounds almost like somthing hitting the floor of the car right below the shifter. I'm posting this in this forum because i'm thinking tranny mount? How would I check for this?
I have a 305tbi with a 700r4.

probably

from other posts ive read most definetly the tranny mount look at the rear of the tranny. the mount sits on top of a crossmember make sure it isnt like crushed or just plain mangled it should be a nice solid rectangle like formation. by the way there easy to replace and relatively cheap stock($16.00).

The only way to really check for it is when you take it off it will obviously be broken, its not hard to change. Just go to a parts store and get one for $7 or a polyurithane one for a bit more if you have some performance upgrades. The procedure is easy, just put the front of the car up, i used ramps cause there easier, then go to the bolt you see coming off the bottum of the tranny mount, and take off the nut. then use a jack to jack up the transmisson till the bolt passes through the hole and you can remove the mount, then simply put the new one in it's place, and lower the transmission back where it was and tighten the nut back on the new tranny mount and your all set. No more Clunk.

I did the tranny mount this weekend, as soon as I took off the crossmember (think thats that its called) the bottom half of the thing fell off. Broke a damn socket then a wrench getting the last bolt on the mount off. Thanks guys.

Same thing happened to me. I figured mine wasn't working very well, but to be totally ripped in half was not what I was expecting..

I just walked into NAPA and told them I needed a tranny mount for 91 with a 305. Wouldn't it be easiest just to call Jegs or somwhere and ask them?

When I put the tranny back down it didn't line up right, we just just pulled the tranny over to the passenger side untill everything lined up. Is this bad?

After i did my motor swap i broke a brand new one in two days. When I finally found out i broke it some guy told me to buy a heavy duty deisel truck mount. So thats what i did and i haven't broke the damn thing yet. Better to buy the 3 dollar rubber truck mount than the 20 dollar poly mount in my opinion.

If you really try you don't even have to remove the crossmember just take the nut off that connects the mounts and member then jack up the transmission till you get enough clearance to squeeze the old mount out and rock the new one in.

You could remove the crossmember (I did when I installed my new tq arm). It was a PITA I had to hammer a socket on one of the bolts then take a air wrench to it to get one of the 4 bolts off. Then it took me more time getting the bolt off the socket than it did hammering the socket on and dropping crossmember.

Well where I parked I had a curb about 3ft from either side of the car, so I was able to just push with my foot off the curb which gave me enough power to get the crossmember off (I was just sliding along the ground, that thing was on there). That mount was on there even more than the crossmember. I originally tried getting in there, and there was just no way I was getting those bolts off without more room. We broke the socket, then the wrench trying to get the thing off. Sledgehammers, using a pipe to make the damn ratchet longer (putting a jack under it to to keep it on the bolt), another of my friends who is about 10x stronger than me or anyone else I know came over and broke my wrench on it. Then we borrowed one of his dads sockets and with a hell of alot of force the thing finally came off. I'm suprised we didn't break the bolthead off actually. I guess mac tools are better than S&K.

No I don't know what year or model. I just went to Autozone and said I need a tranny mount for Chevy 3/4 ton desiel with a 4 speed auto. Then we just compared the the mount to make sure the bolt hole lined up right. One thing is that this mount is round and not rectanglular like the one no the car.

Does it look any differant, I thought chevy had pretty much a universal mount for everything. My friend who helped me put it in told me that I should have asked him for one, his dad (mechanic) had a bunch of them because they fit a ton of GM's.

That is one good thing about GM, in their efforts to save money, they use a lot of the same parts for different things.
Part number for Energy Suspension 3.110BG

IMO, if you don't do a lot of hard acceleration, you don't need the increased noise of a poly mount.

Good luck with your project.

Fireturd350, I was wondering why your crossmember was such a PITA to take off, then I saw you're from IL, which explains everything. Being originally from WI, I can relate to the rust issues..

Yeah, like I said I finally got it off by hammering a socket on it (didn't have the right size) then putting around 80 to 90 psi to my air wrench. Came loose pretty quick.

You don't have a 13mm socket

Not that could fit on my air wrench. Had to be a pretty deep socket. Like I said I tried getting them off by hand (using a 13 mm setup) but couldn't get one of them.
