Pro 5.0 installation

Hi guys... Getting ready to put on my Pr0 5.0 and according to the instructions, you need to cut your old shifter boot to go around the bottom of the shifter so nothing can get into it from the top. Is this what you guys did? I had thought about maybe getting another piece of rubber and doing that and then using the stock boot like it was originally used. Comments or opinions please! THANKS!!!

I just put one in my father-in-laws 87 Formula, we used the stock boot. Is there something wrong with yours?

No, there is nothing wrong with my boot, but my instructions that came with my shifter told me to cut a hole in the boot large enough for the boot to fit over the bottom round part of the shifter and tuck it under the adjustment bolts to keep debris from coming from under the car, getting into the lower boot (if used like intended) and getting into the shifter from the top. (A little confusing, but hope you get what I am trying to say) So, I was wondering if there would be any advantage in trying to get a flat piece of rubber to cut the whole in to seal off the shifter from the outside, then use the original boot like it is. If you don't understand what I am trying to say, I will try to scan the instructions for you. Thanks!!!!!!!!

I did not have to cut anything to get mine on. It was pretty tight but I squeezed it over and everything bolted up ok and have never had any problems.

That's exactly what we did. No need to replace the boot.

i didn't cut mine either, with a minimal number of swear words, you can get the boot on without cutting anything.

That is the only way you can do it. Sometimes it gets too hard to finish the job if the latter is consumed to heavily. However, the number of swear words goes down.
