Built Trans - Shift Slap?
Built Trans - Shift Slap?
I heard that when you get or rebuild a trans w/, let's say a Trans-Go, Corvette Servs, etc...that when it shifts, it like "clunks" or you can really feel the bang of the shift. Is that true? I know that when it shifts smoothly, they call it wear b/c of slippage. The kit prevents slippage, and in turn, makes it "slap". Let's say it's dealing w/ a 700R4.

There's a difference between a quick shift and a banging shift... The trans-go kits tend to increase line pressure and make other small modifications to improve the quickness of the shifting... Kits like the B&M shift kits simply remove the accumulator functions and you get a harsh shift...

When the transgo kit is installed properly it will let you feel the shifts with normal driving not harsh just 1/2/3/4. When you floor it with this kit you the shifts become firmer. Its a very good all around driver freindly kit compared to other types. If you wanted a strip only hard shifter then you might consider a B&M but only if you dont really care about the trans life.
