Its basically a 700R4 with the same gear ratios.

 

it will physically fit, however its a electronicly controlled trans.

so you need either a aftermarket stand alone controller, or you need a 4thgen ECM working it....


so if you're doing a LT1 or LS1 swap, its a bolt in... if you're retaining the SBC, you will have to figure out a way to control the trans.

Okay. I was wondering why b/c I myself am looking for a new tranny for my '89 IROC and I was wondering what the advantage would be to get a tranny out of 4th gen.

To be honest, the thought had crossed my mind also. However, since I have a lowly 305 in my IROC, I was thinking about looking for a motor/tranny combo out of a 4th gen.

I wonder if anyone has put a 4th gen tranny and motor into a 3rd gen?
