screwed something up..
cruisin around town the other night, getting a few stoplight to stoplight races, and i screwed something up
i was at a stoplight, with one foot on the brake and the other on the gas, so i could punch the gas right away w/o having the pause from switching my foot from the brake to the gas. anyway, i punched it and i felt/heard a thump from directly under the shifter.
now whenever i punch it at less than 10mph, i hear/feel that thump every time. i can go WOT after i get to 10mph and everything's fine, but if i accelerate fast from a stop it thumps.
sometimes when i hit second at WOT i'll feel a little jerk and the rear end feels a little shaky.
any idea what i did?

i thought brake torquing was hitting the gas with the brake depressed? i didnt do that, i just hit the gas and let off the brake at the same time
anyway, so it's the trans mount, huh? well that's good to know, i was hoping i didn't screw up some major internal part
is replacing a tranny mount a diy job for an inexperienced person like me? or am i better off just takin it to a tran shop? any idea what the cost of the part, and hours to replace it would be? thanks
edit: nm, you answered my question while i was typing it

Tell you how I do it. I always put the entire car into the air (all 4 corners) but I am a big guy and need the clearance
. You will need a small floor jack under there with you. There is one nut in the center of it, take it off. Then put the jack under the tailshft of the trans, jack up until it lifts up some, and then leave it like that. Take the rest of the bolts out of the mount, Remove and replace. No time at all.

A poly mount is definately a good idea... I could literally break a stock rubber mount in 15 minutes after installing one. Put in a poly mount and havent broken it after 3 years of abuse.
The one thing you may have trouble with (well I did, on both f-bodies in my yard) is grind the crossmember's middle bolt hole out a little bit with a file. The center bolt that goes through the cross member and into the poly mount never lined up quite right for me. No big deal, just something you might run into
