fer more t56 ??s

im gettin ready to do a t56 swap this winter and had a few questions

before anyone flames me i did do a search but could onyl find little bits n peices of informatin here and there it would really help if i could get a big chunck of it

ok on the the ?s

1. i know i need the trans, slave cylnder, master cyl, and a diff flywheel can i just take a flywheel out of the car i pull the trans from?

2. dakota digital box is thisnessacary to have the trans work or is it jus for the speedo can i install it later after i get the trans in and it is driveable?

thats basically it it anyone knows where theres a part list a like would be greatly apperciated thatnk you for your time and sorry for postin another stupid t56 thread i was jus having a hard tiem tryin to take little peices here and there and put them together to make sense

1) Yes, you can take the flywheel from the T56 donor car.

2) You don't need it to run the car, but the engine will stall every time you come to a stop.

whatchu talkin bout? the engine won't stall at all moving slowing down, stopped. we popped out the 700r4 put in the t56 and wired the brake lights thats it. the thing ran like it came that way from the factory. (l98, btw)

He's talking about drivability issues if a VSS is not present. Some stall, some don't. You can "crutch" a lack of VSS by jacking up the idle, but that doesn't mean it's running right.

If you drive without a VSS, then with it, you'd see the difference.

Mine would stall all the time if I didn't have it hooked up, but since you have a 89 camaro I don't think the dakota box will work for you since you have a mechanical speedo to work with.

my car has the vss delet optin does that mean anything???

Here: thirdgen.org thread is a great explanation on the VSS delete RPO that you have. It means you have a cable driven speedo, so the VSS in the transmission is not installed; they used one in the speedometer instead.

so then the dakota box is not needed fopr me jus run the speedo cable n ill be good?
