83 T/A 5-Speed Pedal bushing.

I have a problem with a bushing that popped out on my rod assembly that goes to the clutch pedal. Since that bushing came out I don't have any movement and it has thrown the geometry off.

Does anybody know where to pick one of those up at? It is a rubber bushing. This is for a manual clutch for a 83 T/A. It was squeeking real bad then all of the sudden it just slammed to the floor.

The bushing should still be available from GM, but you might be able to find something that will work at a hardware store. Maybe
a bushing from a door hinge kit could be modified to fit.

Bushing.

I would have called the dealer but there are none open on Saturday around here. I guess I will check Monday. You do not know what I have went through with this ordeal. I pulled the tranny and clutch assembly thinking the pressure plate or clutch went bad. It turns out this is just 2 or 3 dollar piece of rubber. Just irks me to no end. Thanks.

educate me here, since I've never owned an 82-83 clutch f-body.

The upper rod has a 90 degree bit that slides into a hole in the clutch pedal, yes? And that hole has within it a bushing, into which the rod slips into, yes?

Man, the late A-body stuff was just metal on metal. If that's what you're talking about.

Yes..and yes

I made custom tubular linkage for mine years ago using spherical rod ends going off an old article in CHP (IIRC).I then welded the hole up in the pedal..and redrilled is so that is was just big enough to let the bolt in the bearing end slip through it.When I did this mod the original bushing was wiped giving me alot of slop.Been working good for the last 6 years.

along with what onebad82z said...

they don't mention anything for third gens on their site, but you could always check with them. http://www.speeddirect.com/ ... a few friends of mine have their rod end linkage in their 78-88 A/G bodies and are totally happy with it.

AFAIK no one (6 years ago or now) makes the linkage for the early mechanical linkage third gens. That's why I made my own.I bought all the supplies from Art Morrison Enterprises for less than $45.

Bushing

I went to the dealer and picked up the bushing and washer. The total was 20.00 for both. I can't beleive that rubber bushing is $16.00.
