Wonder if anyone's put in straight-cut sequential gearbox such as Quaiffe or Gemini/QED 6 speed that uses dog gears (traditional sequential found in many race cars, GT class) and has a mechanical connection to the trans. not electrical. I heard it changes gears VERY VERY VERY quick. It's still has a clutch pedal to use off a stop, it is not necessary to use when changing gears while moving.... Not very streetable, but lotsa fun driving it. In fact it changes gears so fast that you literally wont have enough time to blink your eyes, you'll be in next gear... heh So, anyone has one or knows anything about it, COST to place it on a third gen IROCZ28?
contactpatch ,
yes, in a way like motorcycle trans. Upshift and Downshift, no other movements of the gear handle necessary which makes it very easy to shift and comes most effective in racing. Well, the most obvious benefit of a sequential gear-change is eliminating the risk of finding third when you are going for fifth and generating a five-figure engine rebuild bill in a fraction of a second...
Hmm, that info about G-force and Liberty gears was pretty useful. Seeing some affordability there, BTW had the FIA not stepped in the process there would be fully automatic gearboxes with dog gears. Out of curiosity: Would anybone here go for Sequential like those above? Any general interest in those? Would you suggest to bang a streetable version right in for use? For ex. Lotus Elise has this too http://www.elises.co.uk/press/2001/evo/10/p2.jpg
Here I go again reviving these almost dead threads lol, S1 makes a sequential shifter for many different T56’s you still need to use a clutch to shift if your transmission is stock geared. But at the price of probably 2 grand after being shipped from Australia you got something you can still drive on the street and road race pretty competitively. A real sequential gearbox is definitely no less than $25,000.
Driving a non-synchro trans on the street is far more difficult than a normal transmission. You gotta have skills. And the fun is gone in about 5 minutes. Maybe 2 minutes with a sequential shifter.

Double-Clutch under light acceleration...
And Power-Shift (kick the Clutch and do not lift the Throttle) under heavy acceleration...
Last I checked (I think, could be wrong) that was the Service/ Labor Fee, if you send your Parts to them.
You will still need to to rebuild and buy Parts for the Rebuild, including anything additional that is worn out.
Over all not a bad option and a fair Price (IMO).
I have a 4L80E in my Personal 3rd-Gen because of the current Power-Output.
If I want to Drag Race or go to a Drag and Drive Event (and I mean with Traction) I need the 4L80E in the Car.
But when I am out having fun just driving, or Drifting, or whatever...
The 4L80E and transmission Cross-Member drop right out (No traditional Exhaust under the Car... Just short, big diameter Twin Turbo Down Pipes that end in just above the location of an Open Header Collector).
My Torque-Arm is slightly shorter than stock and has it's own Cross-Member to mount to (Between the Sub-Fram Connection Tubing/ Roll-Cage Unit).
Anyway, I have 2 Manual Transmission that I swap in with their own Cross-Member.
One is an actual Borg-Warner T56 made from all the best Parts from a Viper, SSR, and Corvette, all mixed together.
The other is a Tremec TR6060 (T56 Magnum).
Both have:
-NHRA Titanium Ballistics Bell-Housings, Fly-Wheel, Clutches, Etc, and Ballistics Case Suit/ Blanket.
-Oil Squirters, Oil-Pumps, Oil Coolers, Etc... and both have Face Plated 1st through 4th Gear-Sets.
5th, 6th and Reverse are synchronized.
I absolutely LOVE having a Manual Transmission, and really wish that I could use One all of the Time.
The Face-Plating instead of Synchronized Gear-Sets help make it possible for me to even use a Manual Transmission.
But be warned, there is a short Service interval, a good amount of wear and tear...
And most people do not enjoy dealing with Shifting these Transmissions.
I got used to it...
But I also drove older Trucks with non-Synchronized Transmissions (Double Clutch/ Rev-Match) and practice with patience, not to ruin the Transmission.
And no Power-Assist Clutch... Feels like pushing a 100 Lb Weight to the floor every time you use the Clutch Pedal.

Pretty easy to install mine didn’t have instructions, but there are videos. Just all are videoed by Aussies, so poor instructions but you will get the jist.
